Tishomingo County is home to J.P. Coleman State Park, Tishomingo State Park, Bay Springs Lake and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. There is a wide variety of things to do and places to explore. Our county is rich in Native American and Civil War history. Visit the various museums, and historical sites in the area and up and down the Natchez Trace Parkway. There is something for everyone in Tishomingo County.

Boating/Water skiing

Fast or slow, it’s a great time boating on Pickwick Lake or the Tombigbee Waterway. Bring your boat or rent one at one of the marinas. In the waterway, the water is calm and is an excellent place to ski, wakeboard and waterboard. Spend the day or weekend with friends and family making lots of memories.

Fishing

In the Tishomingo County area there are many places to fish and many fish to catch! Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Catfish and more! Enjoy the outdoors, relax and throw a line in. If you like the thrill of competition, enter a bass tournament in the Springtime.

Camping

Sometimes you just have to getaway, enjoy nature and have some time to reflect. There are several campgrounds to stay at in Tishomingo County. Bring your tent, camper or mobile estate. It’s a great time breathing in the fresh air, savoring the quietness and treasuring family moments.

Canoeing/Kayaking

A great way to explore the beauty that is in our county is to take a canoe or kayak down Bear Creek. It is a 6.5 mile (easy, rapid-free) trip and you end up at Tishomingo State Park. Go early in the morning to see wildlife walking, flying at scurrying around.

Hunting

If deer hunting is your thing, there are hundreds of acres of land in the area to get that thrill of the hunt going.

Hiking / Rock Climbing

Visit our state parks (Tishomingo State Park & J.P. State Park) and do some hiking and experience the beauty of this area. There are many trails to follow, short and long. Discover new places and things you’ve never seen before.

Bicycling

Bring your bike to ride on or near the Natchez Trace Parkway. Explore new paths and trails. It is one of the prettiest places you’ll want to go in the Spring and Fall.
